Deparment of Food Engineering


Department of Food Engineering was established in February 2007 on the basis of separating group of Livestock and Equipment for Food Preservation and Processing, the Department of Agricultural Machinery, Faculty of Engineering.

Staff of the Department are currently composed of 6 members, including 1 associate professor, 2 PhDs and 03 masters in which 02 masters are PhD candidates studying in Australia and NewzeaLand. At present, the Department is involved in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Food Engineering; Food Technology and Equipment (POHE); Food Machinery and Equipment (POHE).

In addition to teaching, staff of the Department participate in scientific research and transfer of technology. The Department is always welcome students to participate in the topics and projects linking between theoretical courses with practice. Several groups of students of scientific research have won the Ministry of Education and Training Award.

  • Research on technology and equipment for preserving and processing agricultural products: rice, cassava, potato, sweet potato, pineapple, litchi, longan, citrus, leaf vegetables, sprouts, tea, honey, meat, shrimp and sea fish.
  • Technology and equipment for processing feed and aquatic products; mechanization in animal production, slaughter and preservation of animal and aquaculture products.
  • Technology and equipment for processing by-products of agriculture, forestry and fishery to produce animal feed, fish feed, fuel and fertilizer;
  • To study and develop the system of advanced equipment of hi-tech agricultural production.
  • New and renewable energy, utilizing waste by-products of agricultural production.
  • Technology and equipment transfer for agricultural production, preservation and processing of agricultural products.
