Department of Mechanical Engineering
1. History of development
Department of Mechanical Engineering (formerly Department of Metal – Repair) was established on 12nd October 1956.
In the history of development, the department has gone through several split and merged with other department. Since 1974, the department had called by the name of Department of Metal – Repair. From 2007 up to now, the department has been renamed by Department of Mechanical Engineering. Since its establishment, there are thirty-three lecturers and technicians working in the department. All colleagues always work hard to build the department. The department and the members belongs to this department have been awarded many awards and honors by the Government, the Ministry and the University.
At present, there are 09 staff members belonging to the department including one associate professor, three PhDs and six masters.

2. Training and scientific research
Training: Currently, the Department is responsible for teaching over 20 basic and specialized modules in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering. Also, the Department takes on 6 specialized subjects for master students in mechanical engineering. We also participate in doctoral training in mechanical engineering.
Scientific research: The department conducts and participates in a number of scientific research and technology transfer projects at various levels, including state-level research projects, ministerial-level research projects and university-level research projects, Our research topics focus on material sciences, surface treatment technology, measuring techniques, mechanical engineering, maintenance and repair techniques and we have achieved remarkable results.
3. Laboratory rooms of the Department
The department has laboratories for the teaching of the basic modules, the specialized modules. The laboratory rooms is equipped experimental equipment in order to support for the study and scientific research of lecturers and students, support for the graduation project of undergraduate students, master students and doctoral students.
